about
How many of you have stepped out into the unknown only to find you can’t touch the bottom and are caught in a current that is taking you in an unfamiliar, uncontrolled direction.
This song is about situations that were perpetrated upon us with no invitation of our own.
The resulting environmental catastrophe that follows, because we Ignored warning signs and obvious dangers to get to what and where we wanted before it was time, is a life detour to be sure.
Forsaking the foundation before we started building our lives, makes us complicit in the decisions and choices we made, so often blaming what was handed to us without our consent as the reasons why we are structure(s) “fail.”
Suddenly, redemption comes flowing in once we own our decisions both good and bad allowing the tide to bring us home with dry eyes.
It’s time to stop swimming against the tide.
Lifeguard - Save Me is based on my experience as a nine year old watching my family go through a painful divorce.
The terror and anxiety I felt in that moment was remarkable.
From that time on I slept with my shoes on just so I was ready to get everyone out safely should this vessel sink completely.
As I observed the pain on my Mom’s and siblings faces, I felt like I was falling underwater. However, the deeper I fell, the more peace I experienced, that was a gift and a curse.
After this vessel capsized, People tried to help me, but they couldn’t find me below the surface out past the breakers.
The longer I was down there, the more sublime the ordinary became, while at the same time I was concerned about breathing again, limiting my time beneath the surface.
When I came up for air it felt like the search party had been called off and life was in full swing. I just simply adjusted bent and broken.
What I lost that day was my trust in beauty and security. I learned that nothing lasts forever, and it was all my fault.
Who will save me?
lyrics
Lifeguard (Save Me)
Innocence so easily broken and
Silence secret words that are never
Spoken
Complicit I’m sinking fast
Because of nobody and
Down here there’s peace
Where the clay turns muddy
You can search the water
For any signs of life
Run into the breakers
With your floatation device
Fathoms down
Outward pressure caving
in my life my sound
When the tide brings me back
With dry eyes
You can search the water
For any signs of life
The light getting darker
Turning the ordinary
Into sublime
Sublime Sublime
You can search the water
For any signs of life
Save me yeah
Save me save me
Save me save me
