about
Bat Kol - The Meaning
It’s 3 am and I haven’t slept for weeks. I want to sleep, but when I close my eyes I feel like I am drowning.
My 20 year marriage has ended, my music career is a huge failure and has been on the shelf for decades, My kids are hurting, and I am more confused about myself than ever.
Have you ever truly been at the end of yourself? Have you ever been so tired that you are between sleep and dreaming, mumbling about things that don’t add up to anything? So stressed out about things / people you cannot control, and angry that you cannot control them? It’s a terrible place to be, but that is when The “Bat Kol,” or “The Voice Of God” was finally able to penetrate my armor and administer my critical care.
The song “Bat Kol” isn’t an evangelical outreach. It’s not about the “sunshine gospel.” It is a tone poem about the voice of God talking to me as I was drowning. The angelic background vocals aren’t angels rejoicing, rather they are a desperate, heavenly plea for me to finally understand who I am because time is running out!
I woke up tired and my pillow drenched in tears, but I had a new understanding. The understanding was that if it’s not right now, it will be, walk on.
I put my feet on the cold ground and started walking. The ghost in the machine became one spirit in me and I was filled with gratitude for the first time in years. I still struggle daily, but with a new understanding.
I write this to you as a fellow wounded voyager. If all I am able to do is remind you that you are never lost, but you are found, then you have just heard the “Bat Kol!”
Love you,
Jon

I know you think life is to stumble in the dark.
You said you’d end it all last night
Like a wounded voyager all your plans shattered on the ground
Just Remember you’re never lost but found.
You Are Stars
There’s a ghost in the machine
The mind is not apart
You can’t blame those wasted years on a windfall about to fall?
Are we the sum of feelings, what was felt?
The hand we’re dealt is really all for one.
You are, you are made from the stars
I love who you are
You are, you are formed by the galaxies
Born with everything you need.
You are, you are made from the stars
I love who you are
You are, you are poured from the galaxies
Born with everything you need.
You see what happens to us as people
I want to open up my eyes.
You are, you are made from the stars
I love who you are
You are, you are formed by the galaxies
Born with everything you need.
You are, you are made from the stars
I love who you are
You are, you are formed by the galaxies
Born with everything you need.
